On July 19-20, 2014 Patriarch Sviatoslaw of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church proclaimed Blessed Vasyl Velychkovsky as Patron of Prison Ministry at the Marian Shrine of Zarvanytsia in Western Ukraine before 200,000 pilgrims. The celebrations included presentations of his life and various liturgical services honouring our Martyr.
The Blessed Vasyl Velychkovsky ministry in Ukraine began in 2005. The apartment in Lviv where Blessed Vasyl lived from 1955 to 1969 was restored and converted into a museum exhibiting second and third class relics belonging to our martyr.
